Whoever said it never rains in Southern California has been wrong two years in a row on the day of the Auto Enthusiast Day presented by Nitto Tire. Just as it did in 2013, Southern California storms dropped varying amounts of rain providing some relief from the heat. It would seem everywhere in Southern California was reporting rainfall except for Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California.

Despite high heat and unusual humidity caused by storms surrounding the Orange County California area, thousands of fans and hundreds of cars showed up for the event. Their dedication was rewarded with a free event featuring drift sessions every hour, an autograph signing, raffles, and a car show. The second annual Auto Enthusiast Day, held in the parking lot of Angel Stadium of Anaheim, was free to spectators, car show entrants, and vendors alike. Dozens of vendors were in attendance handing out free swag to the diverse crowd of auto enthusiasts. The car show featured everything from classic and modern muscle cars, lowriders, and modified imports, to pre-runner pickup trucks.

Vaughn Gittin Jr, one of the most iconic figures in Formula Drift, attended the Auto Enthusiast Day presented by Nitto Tire. Vaughn brought the full Monster Energy sponsored race trailer including his Mustang RTR competition drift car, the iconic 1969 Mustang RTR-X, and a street going Ford Mustang equipped with the RTR dealer installed performance package. Before the Auto Enthusiast Day presented by Nitto Tire gates opened, Vaughn Gittin Jr could be seen setting up and testing the drift demo course. This hard work and dedication to the sport are part of what has brought Vaughn Gittin Jr to the level of fame he now enjoys.

Despite his star status, Vaughn knows that his fans are what give him the opportunity to live his dream. Perhaps the most coveted raffle prize awarded at the Auto Enthusiast Day was a ride along with Vaughn Gittin Jr during the drift demos. Between drift sessions Vaughn could be seen autographing the cars of a few lucky owners. Gittin stopped by the K&N booth as the event was winding down. K&N was able to catch up with him and get his take on the Auto enthusiast Day presented by Nitto Tire. "What an amazing event the Auto Enthusiast Day that Nitto Tire put on ended up being. I had an absolute blast driving with everyone and putting smiles on my passengers’ faces! Looking forward to next year's event already!" said Gittin.

K&N looks forward to attending the Auto Enthusiast Day presented by Nitto Tire next year. Southern California has such a strong and diverse car culture that this event can only get bigger in 2015. Hopefully the lyrics “It Never Rains In Southern California” won’t prove false for the third annual Auto Enthusiast Day presented by Nitto Tire.

Iowa Speedway once again proved to be anyone’s game as there have been 11 winners in 11 NASCAR K&N Pro Series races in Newton, Iowa

The drivers from the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East dominated the race again. The Autolite Iridium XP 150 at Iowa Speedway pit the drivers from the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and West against each other. The K&N Pro Series East drivers took the top eight spots in the race.

Jones took the lead from Sergio Pena late in the race. He passed Pena on lap 142 of the Autolite Iridium XP 150. Jones led only nine laps in the race.

“That was pretty crazy, the last few laps there,” Jones said. “These cars are so hard to win in and it was extremely hard to pass all night, I felt. So to get a win on one of the bigger tracks is pretty cool.”

There have been 11 winners in 11 NASCAR K&N Pro Series races at Iowa Speedway. Joey Logano, Chase Elliott and Corey LaJoie are among the first-time winners at Iowa Speedway in the K&N Pro Series. Jones won his first race in his 20th career start.

Kenzie Ruston, in the number 96 Ben Kennedy Racing Chevrolet, was the runner up at the Autolite Iridium XP 150 posting her best career finish and the highest series finish for a female driver

He was the runner-up at Five Flags Speedway in Florida and came in third place at New Smyrna Speedway in Florida this year.

Ruston posted the best finish of her career in the K&N Pro Series. She was the runner-up. She has two third-place finishes in her career in the K&N Pro Series. Her latest third-place effort came at Langley Speedway in Virginia.

Cole Custer won the NASCAR K&N Pro Series race at Iowa Speedway in 2013 and despite leading the most Autolite Iridium XP 150 laps, Custer would come in for a third place finish

No other woman driver has finished higher than third in the K&N Pro Series.

“I thought we were a little bit better than Brandon was, catching up to him a bit there at the end,” said Ruston about her late-race push for the lead. “We were there and I feel like all we’ve done is improve. I feel like a win is coming soon.”

Cole Custer, who won the K&N Pro Series race at Iowa Speedway in August of 2013, was third. He led a race-high 65 laps. He took the lead from Pena on lap 76 and was out front until lap 140.

“I drove a bit too deep in those final laps and got too loose,” said Custer. “We lost four spots and ended up finishing third, but I think we could have won.”

All three drivers made pit lane mistakes at the halfway mark and it cost them later in the race. Rhodes, the leader in the K&N Pro Series East standings, was seventh, Little was 12th and Kostecki was 15th.

David Mayhew finished in 10th place. Mayhew and Pursley were the only two drivers from the K&N Pro Series West in the top 10.

2008-2017 European Fiat 500, Opel, & Vauxhall 1.4L Turbo can Increase Performance with K&N

When the Fiat 500 was first released in 1957 it was appropriately named after its two-cylinder engine that displaced just under 500 cubic centimeters. In 2007 Fiat decided to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first Fiat 500 with an all-new car that took styling cues from the original. Styling may resemble the original Fiat 500, but the 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017 European spec Fiat 500 have an available 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine. For 2012-2016 the Fiat 500 cousins Opel / Vauxhall Combo & tour models share the same 1.4-liter turbo engine.

K&N Air Intake System 69-6032TS is powdercoated in a silver color to protect the tube and look good under the hood of the 2014-2016 Mazda 6 and Mazda 3 2.5L

The all new Mazda 6 and Mazda 3 models are equipped with advanced technology straight from the factory. The new Skyactiv engines, like the 2.5L Skyactiv-G engine that comes standard in the 2014 Mazda 6, and is optional in the 2014 Mazda 3 is designed with fuel efficiency, performance, and lower emissions in mind. Skyactiv technology is also incorporated into the transmission, body, and chassis components to help increase efficiency without sacrificing performance.

Performance Short Ram Intake System 69-6032TS from K&N Air Filters is designed to increase horsepower and torque for 2014-2016 Mazda 6 and Mazda 3 2.5L Skyactiv-G models

The 2.5L Skyactiv-G engine is rated at 184 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque from the factory, but reducing air intake restriction can help this advanced engine perform even better. Owners seeking some extra boost in the power department can now install the 69-6032TS short ram intake system. By replacing the maze of air ducting, stock air filter box, and disposable car air filters, K&N intake systems are able to reduce restriction and increase power.

Dyno Chart - 2014-2016 Mazda 6 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G gains an estimated 5.7 more horsepower with a K&N Air Filters short ram intake system

Dyno Chart - 2014-2016 Mazda 6 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G gains an estimated 5.7 more horsepower with a K&N Air Filters short ram intake system

69-6032TS from K&N is precision-engineered to be a simple-to-install performance add-on. The backbone of this intake system is a free-flowing mandrel-bent aluminum intake tube which helps to minimize restriction, allowing your engine to breathe easier. A venturi is incorporated into the tube to straighten airflow resulting in improved drivability and power gains. A durable silver color powder coated finish is applied to the tube, providing an attractive appearance under the hood that will look great for years to come.

K&N equips the 69-6032TS with the oversized RU-4990 reusable air filter, providing a large surface to help increase airflow while providing outstanding engine protection. The washable air filter is made with K&N’s famous high-flow filter media so it’s washable and reusable and can even go up to 100,000 miles between cleanings, depending on driving conditions. To top it all off, a heat shield shrouds the air filter under the hood, helping to deflect engine heat away from incoming air.

All of the design features of the 69-6032TS performance air intake system work in harmony to deliver increased performance. On the dyno, 69-6032TS produced an estimated additional 5.7 horsepower at 4844 rpm and an impressive 7.72 pound-feet of torque at 3262rpm over the factory air filter box system when installed on a 2014, 2015 and 2016 Mazda 6 2.5L.

The 69-6032TS performance air intake system is an excellent upgrade for 2014-2016 Mazda 6 or Mazda 3 models with the 2.5L Skyactiv-G engine. With simple to follow instructions and no need to make any other modifications to the vehicle, you’ll be on the road in approximately 90 minutes with more horsepower under your right foot.

If all that weren’t enough, K&N backs the 69-6032TS with the industry-leading K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty®. If you’re looking to take your 2014-2016 Mazda 6 or Mazda 3 models with the 2.5L Skyactiv-G engine to the next level, look no further than the 69-6032TS Typhoon short ram intake system. Colorado National Speedway Regular Takes the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Race Win

A K&N representative poses with the NAPA Auto Parts/Toyota 150 race winner Chris Eggleston and the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West first place trophy

A K&N representative poses with the NAPA Auto Parts/Toyota 150 race winner Chris Eggleston and the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West first place trophy

Chris Eggleston doesn’t have much experience in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West. But he has plenty of laps at Colorado National Speedway, site of the NAPA Auto Parts/Toyota 150.

Eggleston led a race-high 107 laps and won the race at Colorado National Speedway in only his second K&N Pro Series West career.

But he has won 12 NASCAR Late Model races at Colorado National Speedway and was the champion in the Legends division at the track last year.

Pole winner David Mayhew led the first twenty laps before being overtaken by competitors like the eventual NAPA Auto Parts/Toyota 150 race winner Chris Eggleston

Pole winner David Mayhew led the first twenty laps before being overtaken by competitors like the eventual NAPA Auto Parts/Toyota 150 race winner Chris Eggleston

“It’s awesome,” Eggleston said. “What better way to go off with a bang -- with a win here at Colorado National Speedway.”

Eggleston’s car won its second K&N Pro Series West race. Patrick Strapoli drove the same Bill McAnally Racing car to victory at Irwindale Speedway.

“The whole Bill McAnally Racing team gave me a great car for tonight’s 150,” Eggleston said. “It was just stellar. We struggled a little bit in practice on the short runs, but I tell you what, this car was just phenomenal on the long runs.”

Eggleston became the third driver to win his first K&N Pro Series West race this year. Strapoli was a first-time winner at Irwindale. James Bickford won his first K&N Pro Series West race at State Line Speedway in Idaho earlier in July.

Eggleston won the race by .434 seconds over Dylan Lupton.

“I got a little nervous there at the end,” Eggleston said. “We started using that right rear pretty bad. But we had just enough to beat the Sunrise Ford teams.”

Lupton, driving one of the Sunrise Ford cars, posted his fifth top-five finish and second runner-up finish of the season.

“It was a great race,” Lupton said. “On restarts, we passed cars one by one and ended up getting into second place on that last restart. We just didn't have enough to get first. ... I’m getting kind of frustrated with these second places, which sounds ridiculous. But these Sunrise Ford guys are giving me great race cars every week. So the win will come."

Bickford crossed the finish line in third place. The rookie driver has three top-five finishes in eight K&N Pro Series West races.

“I was just trying to bounce back from a sixth-place qualifying,” Bickford said. “As the race went on and people wore out their cars, we moved up.”

David Mayhew won the pole and was the early leader in the race. He wrecked on lap 81 and ended up in 14th place.

Eggleston took the lead from Greg Pursley on lap 41 and swapped the top spot with Pursley and Lupton until lap 141. Eggleston led the last nine laps of the race for the win.

“No other win came close to that championship as this win tonight,” Eggleston said. “Just a perfect night.”

Eggleston used a bit of local knowledge to avoid any mishaps on the track. He took the outside line on restarts and it kept him out of trouble.

“I’m going to say that’s probably where the hometown advantage came into play,” Eggleston said. “I usually know how this track races as it progresses. I was surprised he chose the bottom. The bottom is definitely pretty good on where you want to qualify and such. But it just eats up your tires so bad in (Turns) 1 and 2. Especially getting off 2 with how rough and bumpy it is.

“So I knew when he gave me the outside, we could roll the top pretty good and conserve our tires pretty good. We were better on the bottom in (Turns) 3 and 4. I moved around a little bit to try to find the right speed.”

Pursley was fourth in the race, followed by Brandon McReynolds in fifth.

Pursley leads the K&N Pro Series West standings by 25 points over Lupton after eight races.

The next K&N Pro Series West race is the Autolite Iridium XP 150 at Iowa Speedway on Aug. 1.
