BME Motorsports and Bradley Morris put their new Pro Buggy K&N graphics on display by winning round 13
Bradley Morris was riding a monster sized wave of momentum heading into Las Vegas for rounds 13 and 14 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. Morris had only recently won the Pro Buggy TORC World Championship Race at Crandon International Raceway, sweeping the weekend, and setting a new track record in the process. He was sitting in second place overall in the Pro Buggy championship chase and fourth in Pro Lite. So understandably, expectations all around were high.

The weekend kicked off in great form with the BME Motorsports' Pro Buggy flashing new bling, with the panels wrapped in chrome and sporting freshly designed K&N Filters graphics. Morris started the race on the front row next to Dave Mason Jr., and the two racers put on an entertaining dual for the first half of the race, until Morris seemed to find another gear and pulled away until a caution flag stopped his charge. On the restart Morris remained laser focused on his line, making no mistakes on his way to another checkered flag. Morris has now won at least one race in his last six events.
Up next was the Pro Lite race and right from the get-go it was a non-stop battle between Morris and veteran Brian Deegan, as the two scraped for several laps with the rest of the field falling behind them. However in one of the most caution flag filled races of the season, Morris got center-punched on a restart with only a few laps remaining, and he was sent back to 8th place. By the end of the lap Morris had already moved back into 4th place, just before another caution flag came out and the officials called the fight. Morris had to settle for 4th place.

In the second Pro Lite bout it was once again the Morris and Deegan show, only this time Morris held the lead, and again the two skirmished the entire race. Then half way through the race, after a restart, Morris caught a rut and did a clean barrel roll, landing the truck back on all fours. Undaunted he battled on, all the way back to 4th, missing another podium by a mere heartbeat.
Although the results weren't up to BME Motorsports or Morris' expectations, the young man continues to show everyone what he's made of. "I have felt more confident lately, and I just had a hard time in the Pro Lite in Vegas," said Morris. "But we still salvaged two 4th place finishes."

Indeed, two podiums and a top-five finish in all four races amounts to a stellar weekend by any standards, especially considering the hurdles Morris had to overcome. Morris and the BME Motorsports wasted little time on reflection though, because they had to immediately refocus on getting the Pro Lite prepped for Primm, Nevada, for TORC rounds 15 and 16, along with the Traxxas Pro Lite Cup.
"At TORC I got two 6th place finishes in my first Pro 4 races, and then a 4th and a 3rd in the Pro Lite," reported Morris. "And then I almost won the cup race. But when I was passing for the lead, I tagged the inside K-rail and took myself out because I wanted to win so badly."
Next up for BME Motorsports is Elsinore. "I just wanna remain top three in points in both my classes In LOORRS," adds Bradley Morris, "And to go win the Challenge Cup for my team and family, who are always there supporting me."

Returning after a four-year break from racing, Jason Patison confirmed he was back, by dominating the LoanMart Hot August 75 race at Irwindale Speedway
"You can't go home again" wrote Thomas Wolfe, but then he never met Corona, California's Jason Patison. The 32-year old MAV-TV programming director recently dominated the featured 75-lap Lucas Oil Modified race, earning his first Irwindale Speedway main event career victory.
"It felt great to take the win at Irwindale, on top of everything, it was my grandfather's birthday," said Patison. "My grandpa has always supported me and been my biggest fan, I told him before the race I was going to try my best to get him the trophy for his birthday, and it felt amazing to do that for him."
Although it was his first main even win at the Irwindale Speedway, it was definitely not his first series win. The Lucas Oil Modified series began in 2006 and in that initial season Patison won five times and became the series' inaugural champion.
"After that I moved on and ran the NASCAR K&N Pro Series for a couple years and then I took time off to concentrate on my career and family," explains Patison. "It feels great to be back in the seat of racecar on a regular basis and even better to once again be running up front."
At the Irwindale Speedway, the sixth of this year's nine races, two-time series champion Jim Mardis led the first five laps of the feature event, but Patison got the nose of his Lucas Oil/MAVTV STR Chevrolet in front at start-finish on lap 6. After that Patison surrendered the lead only once, to Chris Gerchman on lap 22, as the field regained its rhythm following the last of the event's two yellow flags. Once he got back in front Patison was able to open a comfortable lead. Lapped traffic allowed Gerchman and Tim Morse to close up occasionally, but neither offered any serious challenge. Patison took the checkered flag 0.517 seconds ahead of Gerchman.
"I can honestly say that I took racing for granted before, I didn't appreciate how fortunate I was to have the opportunity, now that I have matured, I really appreciate the ability to race and all of the people that help make it happen."
Helping to insure that his car remains up to the task of winning, Patison is using a new K&N reusable oil filter by Pure Power. The filter housing, bypass valve, and call plate on this technology rich oil filter are CNC machined from Billet Aluminum.
"The new SS filter is just one more great product from a manufacturer whose filters were second to none already," comments Patison. "Going all the way back to my days of dirt racing, back in the late 90's, I have always used K&N products on my racecars and I will never use another brand of filter."
Last Saturday Jason Patison was back in action at I-10 speedway in Blythe, California. "We had another great run. We qualified 1st, finished 2nd and we move up to 3rd in the points," he adds. "We head out to Havasu 95 Speedway on October 19th for round 8 of the Lucas Oil Modified Series."

Cam Reimers said his crew worked hard to give him a perfect truck every weekend
The only black and white in racing is the checkered flag. Racing, like life, exists in the copious shades of grey that create its depth and dimension, and it's why fans relate more closely with the "David's" of racing than they do with "Goliath" teams. We prefer to see the underdog team with the thoroughly talented driver and the tireless crew that keeps him on the track through sheer will and effort do well. K&N supported Cam Reimers is one of those drivers you get a sense is capable of big things once all his ducks get in line.
"We are a small team that comes out of a pick-up and enclosed trailer," remarked Reimers. "To be competitive with these big teams that show up with semi haulers and full crews, it's not an easy task to put it on the box in our first season."
Yet that's exactly what Reimers managed to do when the 2013 Traxxas TORC Series, presented by AMSOIL's visited "America's Motocross Track" - RedBud - in Buchanan, Michigan.
Unrelated fluke mechanical issues plagued Cam Reimers truck during the final two rounds
"No doubt about it," declared Reimers addressing how good it felt getting the podium monkey off his back early. "The Pro-Lite field is so stacked with talent that the truck has to be working flawlessly and I have to be on top of my game every weekend. Ever since our podium finish at RedBud, I feel like not only I have a lot more confidence, but everyone on our team feels that we are a top-5 truck. Having that added confidence off the track has helped me go out and lay down solid laps during practice, qualifying, and the race at the last 4 rounds."
The last stop of the 2013 Traxxas TORC Series was in Primm, Nevada, and for the Cam Reimers Motorsports team there was plenty to be hopeful about. An abbreviated two day format tested all of the team's work ethic, as each truck hit the track six times throughout the next 32 hours, with two practices, one qualifier, and three races. For both rounds Reimers gave the 17 truck field everything he had, but alas his slightly hobbled truck only allowed him to finish in 10th and 11th. This left him in 8th overall in the final championship standings.
"I'd be lying if I say I wasn't disappointed on how these two rounds went within the last 24 hours," said the Rookie driver. "We've had a top notch program all year with very little mechanical problems, and to have two unrelated parts break both days is a little heartbreaking. I gave it my all with what I had, but it just wasn't enough."

Reimers was able to put his disappointment behind him as he lined up in 10th position for his last event of the 2013 season. And as the green flag dropped in the Pro-Light Traxxas Cup race, Reimers made some quick moves to work himself into 5th. The N-Fab/ TiLube/ SSI Decals #21 truck looked like the truck from a couple rounds ago producing great speed and aggression. When the checkered flag flew, it would was the Iowa native taking the final spot in the top-5.
"The only way I would tell you that I was satisfied is if we would've won the last four rounds. Since our podium, the whole team has raised their expectations and I love that. I already put a lot of pressure on myself and I think the added expectations really help to keep me focused. That being said, we were graced with some bad luck during the last couple of rounds. The crew worked hard and gave me a perfect truck every weekend, there was just some fluke mechanical issues that were out of our control. We were able to end the season with a Top 5 and showcased some great speed along the way. Ending on a positive note is definitely what we were looking for heading into the winter months"
"I wish I had something exciting for you, but it looks like it's going to be a fairly normal off season," Cam Reimer adds. "We'll be tearing the truck down and rebuilding everything so we can start out next year new and fresh. I'm also excited to just relax a little bit and take care of all of our sponsor items. We built a lot of good relationships with some great companies this season, so we will be doing what we can to stay involved with them and hopefully make contact with some new companies. The TORC Series has some very exciting things in store for 2014 and I can't wait for my sophomore season!"

This was Bertrand’s third Angelilo Memorial win but clearly his favorite because of the many obstacles the team overcame to get it done
"It was an awesome night!" declared Todd Bertrand after claiming the prestigious 25-lap Northeastern Midget Association, Angelilo Memorial race, at the Waterford Speedbowl in Connecticut. Undaunted by practice, heat race and motor woes, Bertrand defined resiliency as he won the event for the third year in a row, shattering the track record in the process. Bertrand's best lap around of the three-eighths mile oval timed in as the fastest lap recorded by the division over the past several years. Adding to the extreme awesomeness of the night was teammate, Randy Cabral, finishing second. It was the second NEMA feature victory of the season for Bertrand, who won in the division's season opener at Waterford.
"The track was phenomenal," Bertrand said. "This is the best night of racing I think out of the whole year, because you've got so many open wheel divisions that all put good rubber down on the track.
In winning the 2013 NEMA Angelilo Memorial, Todd Bertrand shattered the existing track record
Bertrand's ultimately masterful display of track savvy added credence to the adage that it's not how you start, but how you finish that matters. In the first practice of the day Bertrand's car had a leaky oil-line fitting, necessitating a trip back to the shop for repairs, meaning he missed the rest of practice. Then, for the heat race, Bertrand made a decision based on overall team economics that he immediately regretted making. He chose a right rear tire that ran in a previous heat race with two heat cycles on it.
"I was just being cheap and I was like, yeah, I'll just run it. So I almost hit the wall because I got so loose, Bertrand admitted. "But I knew that the car was going to be good once we got a new tire on it."
The new tire clearly did the trick, as Bertrand laid down a blistering, record breaking, 12.79 second lap on his way to victory.
"It says a lot about our team's ability to fight off adversity," said Bertrand. "No matter how bad the heat race and practices went, we knew the track would be much different in the feature. We put our thoughts and ideas together on what we could do to make the car better, and we concentrated on that. Putting things in the past is the best way to go about succeeding in the future at moments like that."
"This win is even more special because we came from the 8th starting position. We didn't start up front like the other two (Angelillo Memorial) wins. Also this win was additionally special because it is one of the biggest events of the year, with five modified divisions competing and everyone was there watching."
Opening the season with a win at Waterford Speedbowl, and having experienced other successful outings there, it's apparent that the venue suits the K&N sponsored driver's driving style. "This track is a progressively banked oval. The corners are sweeping and long, which is what I like," Bertrand confirms. "The groove is narrow, but you can pass on the apron, or you can take the chance at passing outside. The track is extremely smooth, which is why I love it so much. It changes a lot throughout the day, so it keeps me on my game when making changes to the car."
"This was a brand new car at the start of the season, so we have been trying to figure out the best combination for what the car needs. The last four races we have been running in the top-2 at times during practice, but we have caught some bad luck during the features with batteries failing, and tires going down. We finished 5th at Lee Speedway earlier this year, as well as 2nd in the Shane Hammond Memorial race at Waterford when my team mate won. We are currently in 3rd place for points, and we need to win a couple more races to have a shot at the championship."
Bertrand Motorsports next race is back at Waterford Speedbowl. "The last five races in my Honda midget I have finished 2nd, 1st, 1st, 2nd and 1st," adds Todd Bertrand. "If we win this weekend, our team will have swept 4 out of 4 races this year at Waterford."
