Like a boxer down on the scorecard tally, Josh Frederick knew he needed a knockout to win the championship. Headed into the final round of the 2010 WORCS Series in Mesquite, Nevada, Frederick trailed his rival Beau Baron in points, and Baron would need to finish outside of the top five in order for the K&N sponsored rider to have a shot at the title.

One of the most addictive elements of racing is the pure drama inherent in its unpredictability, and the final contest of the season produced heaping helpings of pharmaceutical grade excitement. As the gate dropped for Sunday's main event, Frederick was in third place going into the first lap. He quickly got around Dustin Nelson to take over second, and set his sights on teammate, Jeremie Warnia, who was in the lead. A few laps later, Frederick closed the gap, and successfully made his move to the front. It was then that he got word that Baron was in the pits with mechanical issues.
The Can-Am/Motorworks team would like to congratulate Josh Frederick on winning the 2010 WORCS Pro ATV Championship, and the rest of the team for a job well done.

"I knew that Beau was having issues, but he is a tough competitor and I knew I couldn't take any chances and I had to stay out front and take that win if I wanted to get the championship," remarked Frederick. Frederick held his lead for the last seven laps, taking the checkered, and the 2010 WORCS Pro ATV Championship.

"The entire team did a great job. Jeremie got a great start and held on to finish second and Dillon (Zimmerman) finished fifth in points in his rookie year, so I am proud of their performances," declared team owner, Johnny Leach.

"I never would have imagined the season would have so much emotion tied to it," stated Leach. 'It started off just as we thought it would. Beau and Dustin started the season tough. It was a battle between josh and Beau all year. Josh was in a pretty comfortable spot going into Glen Helen. After that it went crazy. Josh made a small mistake that cost us a ton of points going into the last round. We pretty much went to Mesquite just wanting to finish the season with a win. We were sure that Beau had the championship wrapped. As you know, things went our way, and Josh reclaimed the WORCS Pro ATV Championship. What a crazy ending."

Leach explains that from Frederick's perspective this is one of the sweetest championships he has ever won. "The roller coaster ride at the end made it even better," says Leach. "This year the competition was tough. Beau and Dustin were faster than ever. I don't think I have seen such a fire in Josh though. He pushed hard this year. We went through a lot of different bike setups trying to get every advantage we could. Josh is one of the mentally toughest riders I know. Everyone would be amazed if they could hear what we talked about on the radios. Josh never gives up – no matter what."

"Some of the unknown stuff was the success of our new engine package towards the end of the season. It was super reliable and fast," said Leach. "From Motoworks standpoint, the highs of the season also included Dustin's first win, and the fact that Motoworks won every race of the season. Some of our other low points for the team were our loss in Phoenix at the opener, and the loss to Beau in Washington. The biggest low for us was the loss of Casey Johnson. We all loved him and miss him."

Leach says that next year everything will basically remain the same for the team. The only difference will be Jeremie Warnia coming out to the West Coast and racing MX.

"We want to win the West Coast MX titles. He is super fast and has a great bike. Jeremie will also run the WORCS series fulltime. This will bring another top pro rider to the series. It will be a great battle between Josh, Jeremie, Beau, and Dustin. Not to mention the kids, Josh Row and Dillon. The starting line will be fun to watch."

"We appreciate everything K&N has done for us," adds Leach. "It is a lot of fun to race with you guys. Keep up the good work. We would like to bring you guys several more championships. We look forward to defending the title in 2011."

The 2010 speedway grand prix season was the culmination of a dream come true for Swedish rider Linus Sundstrom. The youngster burst onto the scene in 2009, and in 2010, took his performance to the next level, topping it off with a debut in the elite FIM Speedway Grand Prix. Sundstrom even scored a point in his debut.
Sundstrom earned a third place in the British Premier League, and led Sweden to a silver medal in the World Under 21 Team World Cup Final.

"It was awesome. My team and I had a great weekend and we all enjoyed every minute of it. I got to ride different bikes and try new setups and I was very pleased with them all," said Sundstrom. "I consider myself very lucky to have competed with the best riders in the world."

Sundstrom's success this year stretched far beyond his debut at the sports top level. The "Swedish Star" also earned a third place in the British Premier League, and led Sweden to a silver medal in the World Under 21 Team World Cup Final.
Sundstrom attracted the attention of many by improving his league average by more than three points this season.
Sundstrom attracted the attention of many by improving his league average by more than three points this season.
The event was held at Sundstrom's home track, Rye House. "It was great to take home the silver. Of course, you always want to win, and I wanted a gold, but Poland had won five straight gold's, and they finished with a bronze, so that tells me we did well."

Sundstrom attracted the attention of many by improving his league average by more than three points this season. In general, a one or two point improvement is considered outstanding. But even after getting a taste of the bright lights on the FIM circuit, the 20-year-old isn't rushing to gain a full-time spot on the international tour.

"I might get a chance to be a reserve or wildcard next year. Hopefully they let me run the qualifying series. I want to progress, but I also want to take it slow and make sure I am ready for the pressure and competition of the Grand Prix season," noted Sundstrom. "I am very good on the gates, but I still have a long way to go in regards to thinking on the bike and being one step ahead of the other riders."

After a few off weeks to reflect on his season, Sundstrom thinks it could be the most important year of his entire career. "I am very happy with all of the hard work that my team and I put in. It was great to finally get something in return for the hard work."

"I want to thank K&N Filters for their support this season. My team and I have been very happy with all of their products. In my opinion, you can't find a better filter on the market. I am already looking forward to the 2011 season and it's going to be great to work with K&N Filters in what will be another successful year."

In 2009, a new tradition began for footbrakers... This traditional style of drag racing eliminates the use of transbrakes, which requires more skill from the driver to get the tires to hook up. The most important attribute to this type of racing is consistency. When it comes to consistency, Michael Beard has got it. It takes great skill to run fast but, it takes a different type of skill to run consistent.
