In just a few short years, Linus Sundstrom has established himself as one of the brightest up-and-coming riders in European Speedway Bike racing. The 19-year-old from Avesta, Sweden is looking to continue his climb through the ranks of Speedway racing and qualify for the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) World Championships.

In 2008, Sundstrom was the Swedish Rider of the Year. Last season he captured the Under 19 Nordic Championship, and was also a European Team Under 19 Silver medalist for Sweden and a Bronze medalist at the Swedish Under 21 Finals. This season, Sundstrom is setting his sights even higher.

"I want to win the Swedish Under 21 Final and qualify for the Under 21 Individual World Championship," said the Swedish star. "I also want to represent the Swedish Under 21 team in the Under 21 Team World Cup."

In 2010, Sundstrom will be riding for Rye House in the English Premier League and Piraterna in the Swedish Elite League. He will also be debuting in the Polish first League for Start Gniezno, and to cap things off, will be doubling up with The Ipswich Witches team in the British Elite League. When asked, Sundstrom said there's not much difference riding in other countries.

"Of course at times there is a language barrier…but I just love to ride my bike and I don't care where I ride. This year we are looking to ride in over 100 meetings."

The FIM World Championships are a series of 11 races run throughout Europe. Just racing in the series establishes riders as elitists in the world of Speedway racing; And Sundstrom appears to be on the fast track to fame. "It's my long term goal, but it takes a gigantic financial commitment and, like all racing, a little bit of luck, too."

Sundstrom's bike runs a 500cc engine, with a dry clutch and one fixed gear. The bikes have no brakes and can accelerate to 60mph faster than a Formula 1 car. Sundstrom credits K&N's high performance filters in keeping his costs low, and his winnings high.

"A poor quality filter allows dust to penetrate the engine, causing regular engine services which in turn increase the overall cost of racing. However, with the use of a high quality K&N Filter, the dust is kept out and my engine always runs to its highest performance level."

In 2008 Dave Stewart introduced the LMB Streetfighters Series to Great Britain. This is a series that provides a road racing experience for people who might not get that opportunity otherwise, and it's open to virtually all class of motorcycles. Stewart manages the British Motor Cycle Racing Club, known as BMCRC, or "Bemsee", it's the world's oldest motorcycle racing club, founded in 1909.

With support from Streetfighters Magazine, K&N, and others, Richie Harrison and Harrison Brothers Racing successfully completed their project Honda CBR600FM in time for the first round of the series. Harrison says there were many occasions, working in his garage in near Siberian temperatures that he wondered whether he would ever finish, or if it was all worth it.

The challenges to get everything completed continued right up until the first round practice session. "I had warmed the engine through and brought it up to temperature, as I jumped onto the bike to go out for qualifying and snicked from neutral to first, at this point the engine cut out and the light bulb in my head switched on," reflects Harrison.

In what he refers to as a "token blond moment," Harrison forgot to short the side stand switch. "Yes you can laugh" he says. The good news is that all has worked out well since.

"I can't begin to describe how happy I am with how well the Streetfighters Magazine/HBR Honda has performed and we now sit firmly in fourth position in the Streetfighter B Championship." The next round takes place at Pembrey on the 10th and 11th of April.

"LMB is the series sponsor" explains Harrison. "It stands for Laurence M. Barry, he is a friend of the organizers, ThundersportGB, and supplies all the recovery vehicles used throughout the series for picking up the fallen or injured riders and machines."

"K&N has been great with their support of me and my younger brother Jonathan; they have provided us with products since 2004. K&N has helped us to some great race wins and more importantly have provided us with products that have been used throughout a number of championship titles. We have never had a single issue with a K&N product; we can just fit it and forget about it. They really are that good."

"Currently the HBR/Streetfighter Magazine 1991 Honda CBR 600FM is graced with a K&N Powersports high flow oil ilter and a K&N air filter element, and we will be using these throughout the 2010 season," remarks Harrison.

According to Harrison, the short term goal for the 2010 race series is for Harrison Brothers Racing to be a regular podium hound every weekend. "We had a great start to the year in round one and two at Mallory Park," says Harrison.

By the time they head to Pembrey, they expect to have improved the bike further, allowing them to run even closer to the front. "You can follow our progress throughout the year by logging onto our MySpace page or by following us on Facebook. Many thanks and I look forward to keeping you updated on our progress throughout 2010."

Darrell Wallace Jr. made history on a couple fronts by winning the season-opening NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race at Greenville Pickens Speedway in South Carolina on Saturday night.

First, he became the youngest driver to win an East Series race.

Second, he became the first African-American driver to win an East Series race.

Third, he became the first Drive for Diversity driver to win an East Series race.

As easy and 1-2-3, Wallace has started a revolution in racing in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East.

"We were solid all day -- from practice to qualifying -- everything," said Wallace, who is 16 years, 5 months and 19 days old. "I can't thank the guys from Revolution Racing enough. They worked their tails off to get this car ready for this race."

Wallace became the youngest driver to win an East Series race by nearly four months, beating out Brett Moffitt, who won his first East Series race at South Boston Speedway in Virginia in 2009, when he was 16 years, 9 months and 27 days.

Wallace won the Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 150 on a green-white-checker flag finish. He started alongside rookie Cole Whitt. Whitt beat Wallace to the starting line on the green-flag lap, but fell back on the final lap of the race. Whitt ended up in fourth place when the checker flag dropped.

"I kept spinning my tires," said Wallace. "I told myself to just relax -- you'll get them back. And that's what I did and I came home with the 'W.'"

Andrew Smith was second, followed by Jody Lavendar in third, Whitt and Ryan Gifford.

"It was an awesome run," Smith said. "We had an amazing run. We gave away a little track position in the beginning trying to save our tires -- maybe a little too much -- but we battled back in the end and beat our way for second."

Ryan Truex, the reigning East Series champion, led the most laps and was in contention for the win, but tangled with Whitt on the white-flag lap and crashed. He dropped all the way to 15th place and played a role in Whitt's fourth-place finish.

With Whitt and Truex out of the picture, Wallace had a clear path to the finish line.

"At the start, they told me to be patient," Wallace said. "I just saved my tires pretty much and picked them off at the end. It was just a good race. I learned a lot from Truex. He's pretty much the young veteran out of the group. I'd like to thank him for running me clean."

Lavender made up 17 spots during the race. After starting 20th, Lavender moved into the top five on the final restart. When Whitt and Truex collided, Lavender took advantage moving into third places.

"I've had so many seconds and thirds here, and I really want to win one bad," said Lavender, who earned the Featherlite Move of the Race Award after finishing 17th in the final race of 2010. "If a track ever owed me, it's this one."
