K&N's round cone shaped universal air filters are popular for cold air

K&N Universal Air Filter RC-5057
K&N has recently released a variety of new universal round tapered air filters. Part numbers RC-5057, RC-5127, RC-9350, and RC-5135 all differ in size but share much in common. They are all round tapered, conical type, air filters. These particular part numbers utilize chromed metal top plates for an attractive yet functional appearance. They also feature ultra-strong molded pliable rubber flanges which absorb vibration, allowing for secure attachment, and can be stretched up to 1/16" (1.5mm) to fit in-between sizes. Despain Motorsports had back-to-back victories at Clinton County Speedway in Alpha, Kentucky. In the second event, Elliott Despain posted the second fastest time trial lap and easily went on to win his heat race in the Open Wheel Modified Class.

Despain started from the front row in the Modified main event and jumped to the lead in the south-central Kentucky bullring. “Winning two in a row at the same track really helps boost my confidence,” said Despain. “I look forward to coming back to see if I can win again.”

The Despain Motorsports crew did not stop with their latest round of victories. The next night they made a stop at Richmond Raceway in Kentucky. They
ran the No. 75 Lucas Oil Products sponsored Bandit Race Car with K&N products in the Modified portion of the Bob Dirt Car Series’ 22nd Annual Paul Wooldridge Memorial Race.
Despain qualified with the sixth fastest time and finished fourth in his heat race. He started at 8th for the 20-lap Modified feature event. At the end of the race, he was third.
Despain Motorsports now has top-five finishes in six out of their last eight races, including two wins and two runner-ups.
“Elliott has been racing since he was only 4-years-old,” said Billy Despain, Elliott’s father. “We would drive 450 miles
round trip from our home in Kentucky to a race track in Tennessee when he first started racing Karts. I use to race but Elliott really got the racing gene. He loves it. I just work on the cars.”
The 20-year-old Campbellsville, Kentucky resident will next race at the 9th Annual Bluegrass Rumble in Bardstown, Kentucky.
“We could not win the way we do without K&N,” said Despain. “K&N gives us extra power and keeps the dirt out of our engines. K&N is a big part of Despain Motorsports. We have K&N on all of our vehicles on and off the track.”
Firefighter and Sportsman Class racer Darryl Mitchell Jr. moved from 17th place to 3rd place in series points after winning the Cool Down Pro Gas Nationals at Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, California.

Competitor Roger Kato had a .001 advantage at the starting line over Mitchell, but Mitchell’s Cavalier picked up the win with a near perfect 9.903 at 158.52 mph to Kato’s 9.910 at 160.92 mph.

Mitchell sailed through six rounds of eliminations in his 2003 Cavalier roadster. “I had a drag racers dream weekend and my car performed flawlessly,’ said Mitchell. “I was able to win Saturday and Sunday and finish in the quarter finals Sunday which gave me an additional 400 points.”
Mitchell hopes to win the 8 race series. “Out of six so far, I’ve had one win and two quarter final finishes,” he said. “It’s still really close and anyone’s game.”
The Los Angeles City firefighter is a second generation racer. “I grew up watching my dad in the NHRA on the west coast,” he said. “I have two kids now and maybe they’ll get into racing too.”
Mitchell’s Cavalier is a high powered street roadster built by Worthy Motorsports. “I’ve used K&N products for ten years,” he said. “K&N protects my engine and gives me additional performance on the track. I also put a K&N hood scoop on by Cavalier and noticed more power. It also helped with my visibility on the track. K&N is a tested and proven product.”
The next race in the 2009 Southern California Pro Gas Series will be at Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, California on October 24.

The RC-5132, like most K&N universal air filters, features a pliable flange that can stretch up to 1/16th (1.5mm) to fit sizes in-between the filter’s actual flange diameter. This universal air filter has a flange inside diameter of 4.37 inches (111mm) as well as a total length of 1.457 inches (37mm).

The RC-5055 features a flange length of 1.457 inches (37mm) and, like most K&N Universal air filters, allows room to clamp on a variety of intake tubes. This universal air filter has a flange inside diameter of 3.917 inches (99mm) as well as a total length of 1.457 inches (37mm).
The RC-5056 has a chrome top with a stud for secure mounting. It, like other K&N universal air filters comes pre-treated with K&N filter oil so they are ready for use right out of the box. K&N universal air filters are washable and reusable and are warranted against defective material or workmanship for one year from the date of purchase with no mileage limitations.

K&N sponsored racer Andy Forsberg took on K&N sponsored racer Jonathan in Chico, California in the Pacific Sprint Car Division. Forsberg qualified 4th place in his heat and started 3rd in the A-main event.

“The track at Silver Dollar Speedway was fast and passing was difficult,” said Candace Forsberg of A&A Motorsports. “But Andy was able to get around Mark Hall for the 2nd place spot but was never able to catch the leader,
Jonathan Allard.”
Allard took first and Forsberg took second place. “I use K&N products in all my races,” said Forsberg. “K&N protects our engines and performs flawlessly at every race.”

The next night the A&A team headed to Placerville, California for a 360 points race at Placerville Speedway. Forsberg started 4th in the A-main and quickly overtook James Sweeney. He then moved into 2nd place and passed Scott Kinney. From there Forsberg set his sights on leader Jimmy Trulli, but was never able to catch him. He took 2nd place.
The team is on its way to Placerville Speedway for a Civil War 360 Series race and will finish out the week at the Silver Dollar Speedway for a 2-day Golden State Challenge 410 Series Race.
