WE ROCK USA began its 2009 Rock Crawling Season at the Pima Motorsports Park in Tucson, Arizona. The rock crawling site is considered to be one of the best and toughest man made courses available in the series.
Team Waggoner nailed the tough shootout out for extra bonus points at Pima Motorsports Park in Tucson, Arizona
Cody and Jim Waggoner were prepared for the new rock crawling arena. “The first day seemed to fly by course after course,” said Lindsay Waggoner. “Cody and Jim held the lead by only five points and Jason Paule was waiting to take that lead away.” Jesse Haines, the 2008 Series Champion was close behind.

Paule put the pressure on and regained top spot by 10 points, only to have Team Waggoner come back on the last two courses and take the lead again.
“When it was time for the shootout Cody and Jim only had an 11 point advantage,” said Waggoner. “Everyone knows it’s not over until it is over and a team can go from last place to a top slot after this particular course.”
The shootout was tough and Team Waggoner had to score better than the rest. They managed the best score in the unlimited class and earned the event win.
“Our K&N air filter gave us more horsepower than ever on our engine,” said Waggoner. “Our motor with K&N is strong and powerful.”
Team Waggoner’s next event is May 2nd and 3rd in Three Peaks, Cedar City, Utah.
The Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series, LOORRS took place at the Primm Valley Motorsports Complex in Primm, Nevada in front of a packed grandstand. Nine different racing divisions took on the challenges that combine dirt track and road course racing.
Trenton Briley won the Kart Modified Feature in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series
One of the kids in the LOORRS Kart Series was a pre-teen from Acton, California by the name of Trenton Briley.

Briley almost missed qualifying and only had one lap to work on his starting position. He was second fastest and started in second position for the main event. There was a battle between Briley and the No. 522 kart during round one of the series’ racing action. Briley took second place.
In round two, Briley qualified third fastest and started in the second row with No. 524 and No. 522. The 522 kart took the lead with the 524 kart. Briley tried to catch the leaders and took second place around lap 4. The 522 developed mechanical problems and pulled of the course.
Briley won the Kart Modified feature on top of finishing second in round one action. His Trophy Kart has LTR 450 Suzuki quad racer motor. “We use K&N air and oil filters,” said Trenton’s father Rob Briley. “We’ve used K&N for as long as I can remember on and off the track. K&N works and is a well known product in our family.”
Briley's next competition will be in Perris, California for the Mickey Thompson Kalgard Lubricants SXS Stadium Series presented by Skin Industries.
The General Tire Mint 400 desert off road race ran north of Las Vegas, Nevada. The course consisted of four 100 mile punishing laps. Blinding dust was only one problem racers had to face. The course was extremely rocky and rough and the fine silt was everywhere.

Damen Jefferies teamed up with Rick Romans in the Jeffferies Racing Built K&N Filters Class 1 Buggy. Jefferies co-pilot was his brother Casey and Romans co-pilot was Jerry Bennett.

The Jefferies brothers started the race and at the end of lap one found themselves in the lead by eight minutes. Romans and Bennett then took over the driving duties. They were slowed down by the unrelenting dust and a flat tire.
They moved to sixth place when it was time to switch drivers again.
Damen and Casey Jefferies moved steadily back up through the field on the final lap. The team earned a third place finish in Class 1 and eighth overall.
“The Nevada desert is so hard on equipment,” said Jefferies. “It’s a true testament to how well our K&N filters perform. The silt and dust were so bad that I could not even see the front bumper of the car at times during the race. Our K&N filters kept the engine clean in that type of environment.”
Damen Jefferies said overall it was fun coming back to race the Mint. “I won my very first race in the Mint in 1994 in Class 9,” he said.
The next race for Jefferies Racing will be the BITD Terrible’s 250 in Primm, Nevada on April 18. From there, the team will go to the SCORE Baja 500 on June 6.
The Havasu 95 Speedway in Lake Havasu City, Arizona was the place to be for Christopher Gerchman. That’s where the SuperClean Modified Series driver was victorious in two races in one night.

His car did well in the practice session and Gerchman’s strategy was to park it and wait for the qualifying session. There were at least 30 cars trying to make the 22 car starting field for the Sunoco Fuels 75.

The SuperCLean Modified Racing Series returns to action at Lucas Oil 10 Speedway in Blythe, California
The Lake Havasu City resident qualified in third place. “Before our trophy dash, I adjusted the car,” he said. “By lap four of six in the trophy dash, the car was in the lead and I won.”
Gerchman hoped his car would be as successful in the main event as it was in the trophy dash. “Organizers inverted the top eight cars in the main so even though I qualified in third place I had to start at fifth position,” he said. “I found myself in the lead by lap 25 with 50 more laps to go.”
There was one caution during the race. At lap 65 someone ran over a cone and it flew into the middle of the track. On the restart the person in second place tried to make a move and pass Gerchman. “I held my line and drove away from the second place car,” he said. “It’s very important to be patient in this kind of race. My strategy paid off and we were just as successful in the main as we were in the trophy dash.”
Gerchman has used K&N products his entire racing career. He began racing in the Legend Series seven years ago and moved up to the Super Clean Modified Series. “K&N protects my engines from dirt and debris on the track,” he said. “I also get additional filtration and more air which means more power.”
The 21-year-old competes against his father, his uncle and his co-worker in the SuperClean Modified Series. His goal is to have a NASCAR career. Until then Gerchman hopes to continue his winning momentum during the weekend of April 17 and 18 at the Lucas Oil 10 Speedway in Blythe, California.

K&N sponsored racer Dan Fletcher was on fire on The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals. Fletcher scored his 59th NHRA National event win. “It’s a great day for K&N,” said Fletcher. “My cars outlast and outperform thanks to K&N products.”
K&N was everywhere in the pits, staging area and on the track at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. In Super Gas, Mike Ferderer ran his K&N Filters 2003 Pontiac Grand Am. “My best speeds on the track are because of K&N,” he said. “The car is just fast.”
Sheldon Gecker, also known as King Kong ran his 1957 Chevy with K&N products. “Years ago when we first started racing we had nicknames,” said Gecker. “One evening everyone put their name in a hat and I pulled King Kong. It’s stayed with me for almost thirty years.” Gecker uses K&N air and oil filters. “K&N is amazing, I’ve used the same air filter on two different cars for about 5 years,” he said. “I just wash it and it’s good to go. The oil filters protect my engines.”
Thomas Bayer ran his 1962 Corvette. “K&N products are dependable,” he said. “K&N keeps the debris out of the motors.” The winds were up and the air was cold
in Las Vegas. Drivers had to retune and rethink strategies to stay in the winning zone.
All of the drivers who use K&N said they did not worry about track debris or
dust at the track.
