With its bold looks and ample cargo capacity, the Dodge Nitro is a stylish and versatile midsize SUV. The R/T package adds additional features such as 20" chrome wheels,
a 4.0 liter engine, and a 5 speed automatic transmission that can also be shifted manually. K&N has released a new air intake system (part number 57-1556) which
testing shows gets the Dodge Nitro R/T an additional 8.7 horsepower
at 5006 RPM for the 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 Dodge Nitro that has the 4.0 liter engine at 5006 rpm.
The 57-1556 features a
special molded plastic intake tube and a large open element conical air filter. The filter sits behind a powder coated steel heat shield which helps isolate it from the rest of the engine compartment. The factory fresh air duct is reused and helps direct
cooler outside air toward the filter. This combination allows for a steady supply of unrestricted airflow to reach the Nitro's engine
providing an instant performance gain with no other modifications necessary.
The chrome top of the large RF-1042 air filter adds a touch of class when opening the Nitro's hood. The filter stops dust and dirt by using multiple layers of cotton and 1.45 oz of K&N filter oil. This high flow technology invented by K&N provides the best balance of airflow and filtration. The RF-1042 is also washable and reusable, and can go up to 100,000 miles before cleaning is necessary.
The 57-1556 can be easily installed in 90 minutes or less with only a socket set, flat blade screwdriver, and a 10mm wrench. Photo illustrated instructions are included to guide you through the installation step by step. The entire system is backed by K&N's Million Mile Limited Warranty.

The NHRA Winternationals get underway in Pomona, California the second weekend
in February. K&N Engineering has several sponsored racers at the event and
numerous competitors with K&N Engineering products. One of those sponsored
racers is Del Worsham.
Del Worsham has raced in the NHRA Winternationals for 17 seasons
Pomona Raceway is Del Worsham's home track
Worsham competed in his first NHRA Winternationals in 1991 and has two
career victories at the historic Pomona Raceway. Despite those two trophies,
Worsham remains winless in winter. Both of his Pomona victories came at the
season-ending finals in November.

Del Worsham's NHRA Funny Car
Worsham only lives 20 minutes from the Fairplex facility at Pomona and is
looking forward to a home track victory. When the NHRA POWERade tour kicks off
this weekend, it will be Worsham’s 18th shot at glory in the tour’s traditional
season opener.
“We want to hit the track running well, get qualified solidly, and do our best
on Sunday,” said Worsham. “It’s so hard to win one of these races. I try not to
think in those terms before I’ve even made a qualifying run. The first challenge
is getting qualified. We ran 4.79 in Pomona a year ago, and got bumped from the
field. I have a great deal of respect for how hard it is to grab one of the 16
best times here. I know we’re fast enough to qualify solidly, even near the top.
The first step is to get in solidly.”
Worsham said he has plans to take the Checker, Schuck’s Kragen car with K&N
products back to the winner’s circle more than once in 2008. In the off-season
Worsham spent all his energy on the construction of a new chassis for a single
Funny Car, instead of the two he has owned and operated since 2000. “I did not
want to reinvent the wheel,” he said. “I kept an eye on what kept my car running
so well in the second half of 2007.”
Del Worsham and his CSK Team use K&N Engineering Oil Filters (HP-5001)
every time they race. “The thick canister walls on the K&N Filters have extra
strength and durability,” said Worsham. “It reduces the risk of damage from
debris on the race track. We wouldn’t dream of entering a race without K&N
Filters.”

When selecting a universal air filter, not only are its size and airflow
important, the location the filter is mounted is important as well. The filter's
location may expose it to unusually high levels of dust, tire spray, or even
splashes of water. One way to help shield the filter from these elements is to
use a DryCharger filter wrap.
K&N has DryCharger filter wraps available that extend the length between air filter cleaning. Part number RU-2590DK for example fits K&N's round tapered universal air filter part number RU-2590 , as well as other
air filters with a 5 3/8" base diameter, 4 3/8" top diameter, and a height of 7". The RU-2590DK
is made of a polyester mesh material with uniform micron sized pores which stops dirt and dust particles as small as 0.005" (127 microns) before they reach the K&N
air filter. The
RU-2590DK, like other K&N DryCharger filter wraps, is treated with silicone so it repels water. The RU-2590DK will
repel water for up to one year, and can be easily cleaned by using K&N air
filter cleaner. The RU-2590DK
DryCharger is a great way to extend the service interval of your K&N
universal air filter and protect it from the elements while adding negligible restriction.
K&N DryCharger filter wraps are available in many shapes, sizes and colors. Use K&N's search by dimension to find the right size filter wrap for your clamp-on universal air filter. To find a dealer in your area use our Dealer Search.

Off-road racer Curt LeDuc drove his ROCKSTAR Energy Drink/Toyo Tires/Skyjacker

Commerce in Parker Arizona and ended at the Blue Water Resort and Casino around
425 sandy miles later.

LeDuc competed against record number of entries in the Parker 425
The Best in the Desert sponsored race featured trucks, SUVs and buggies
competing under grueling conditions. There were a record number of entries, 310,
but only 81 were able to finish the race. LeDuc shared driving duties with sons
Todd and Kyle to take first in the 8000 Truck Class.
“The ground was really wet,” said LeDuc. “This had a big effect on the race and
the cars were getting beat up. The drive shaft hit a rock at mile ten, but we
had a spare and did not have any more trouble during the eight hour three lap
race.”
LeDuc passed nearly fifty vehicles during the first lap and handed over driving
duty to his youngest son Kyle who continued the LeDuc family tradition. In the
last lap older brother Todd took over and made it a family victory.
“K&N is one of our sponsors and we wanted to start off the year on the right
foot,” said LeDuc. “We use K&N oil and air filters. One of the biggest
advantages of the K&N oil filter is how it handles cold and heat with the
deserts changing temperatures. It performed flawlessly under extreme conditions
when we staged in the early morning and continued performing under the heat of
the race day. We did not have to change the K&N air filter during the race.”
LeDuc’s next race is the Terribles Town 250 at Nevada in April.

The K&N 1955 Chevy was named Best of Show at the annual John Force Holiday
Car Show in Yorba Linda, California. Only 40 cars were selected as Best of Show
at John Force Racing Headquarters out of almost 1,000 hot rod, custom and
classic cars.

All-aluminum 350 engine with K&N air and oil filters in 1955 Chevy
NHRA Funny Car Racer John Force backs this annual event to support the California Highway
Patrol and its “CHiPs for Kids” toy drive. One of the largest crowds in its
history attended one of the most popular car shows in Southern California. Most
of the crowd
dropped off presents for children of struggling families and drove their shiny
rides through the city of Yorba Linda.

K&N 1955 Chevy on the way to John Force Holiday Car Show
Travis Hodges of K&N Engineering in Riverside, California took the 1955 Chevy
to the John Force Holiday Car Show. “I thought it was great,” said Hodges.
“There were a lot of cars to see at the event.” Hodges uncle also attended with his
yellow 1968 Chevy Camaro equipped with a K&N air filter. The two cars were
parked next to each other and attracted a great deal of attention throughout the
day. “Everyone stopped by and thought the K&N Chevy was beautiful,” said Hodges.
“The most asked questions concerned the color of the car and the motor.”
The Sunset Pearl color for the K&N Chevy was designed by House of Colors.
The motor is an all
aluminum Brodix block and cylinder heads Chevy 350. It runs on 112 octane. Built
by K&N, the 1955 Chevy is equipped with a K&N E-3730 air filter and
a
66-1401XP XStream air filter top.
These K&N products produce clean, virtually unrestricted
airflow which allows the 1955 Chevy to operate at its full potential. A K&N
HP-5001 oil filter maintains clean oil flow, and the one inch nut makes removal
easy when working in the Chevy’s clean engine compartment.
In Yorba Linda K&N was proud to win Best of Show, but the real winners were the
needy families that received a large mountain of toys from a generous car
enthusiast community.
