Toyota took the Camry's strongest selling points and redesigned the 2007 model
with an all new six speed automatic transmission. There are also platform
changes which include a 2.2 inch longer wheelbase and a 1.2 inch wider front
than on earlier models.

Point Standings
In four previous NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series starts at the track, Kvapil
finished inside the top five. His name was on the short list of favorites to win
over the weekend. It looked like he was going to get his first victory at ORP,
but a loose truck and lapped traffic cost Kvapil a shot at his third victory of
the season.

Kvapil’s K&N Filters Ford was at the top of the speed charts in practice on
Friday morning. The K&N Filters crew felt as if they had a shot to contend for
the pole in qualifying until the rain started. The qualifying session was
cancelled and the field setting was based on 2007 owner’s points.
Kvapil lined up fourth for the start of the 200-lap race, and held the position
for the opening 25 laps. At the first caution, he told the K&N Filters crew the
truck was strong in the early part of the race.
The race restarted at lap 43 with Kvapil in the third position. He stayed there
until the No. 14 and 23 worked their way around him pushing Kvapil into fifth
position. At lap 79, there was another caution and Kvapil came to pit road for
tires, fuel and a track bar adjustment. Quick work by the K&N Filters crew sent
Kvapil back onto the racetrack in the third position.
Kvapil made his way to the front for the lead at lap 104. As he began to
encounter lapped traffic, Kvapil fought a loose condition and he was not able to
run the line he was looking for. As the laps continued, the No. 33 and 23 trucks
closed the gap on Kvapil, passing him with only 30 laps remaining. He held onto
the third position to bring home his sixth top-five finish of the 2007 season.
“All in all, it wasn’t a bad night,” said Kvapil. “I’m just a little
disappointed. We really thought in practice we had a truck to win. We were about
an adjustment off from being first. In the long run we were just too loose,
spinning the tires off the corner and it ultimately hurt me in traffic. It’s
just hard to pass lapped guys when you don’t have the whole track to do that. We
were just a little too free in the long run, but all in all, not a bad night for
our K&N Ford.”
Kvapil is fourth overall in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck series point standings.
The Series continues at Nashville Superspeedway in Lebanon, Tennessee on
Saturday, August 11.

Jason Crump finished fifth in the Grand Prix of the Czech Republic. The
Defending World Speedway Champion missed the A final and said this was not his
greatest result.

The hard charging Aussie was riding with a broken left kneecap sustained
from a heavy crash in Poland the previous weekend. Crump had his left knee
heavily strapped for the event.

“I was in a fair amount of pain most of the night but my leg stood up to
it pretty well,” said Crump. “The track was not the best for making passing
moves and I was too slow out of the start. I did manage to collect 11 more
points on the way and close the gap a little bit more on three of the four
riders who are leading me. Overall I am happy with my results.”
Crump is scheduled for knee surgery at a British hospital this week. “The
doctors said with an extensive physiotherapy program, I should be back for the
next Grand Prix in two weeks,” he said. “Let’s keep our fingers crossed.”

year, but that does not mean I will be taking it easy,” said Crump. I use K&N

as long as I am racing.”

The Falkner Livingston Team went to Pike’s Peak with the newest
motorcycle class on the mountain. The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb has
been an annual event since 1916. There are no guardrails, 200 foot drops and 156
hair raising turns. The course is part dirt and part pavement.

FL Team ran a special exhibition class Honda CRF 150R Expert with riders
the team gathered from the motorcycle industry. The 150s were equipped with K&N
Engineering Oil Filters.

On race day, they were on the mountain for the Race to the Clouds before 4 a.m.
“Once we got there, we set up the FL Racing pit,” said Falkner Livingston Racing
Assistant Team Manager Becca Livingston. “When it was time for the FL/Honda 150
Exhibition class all six riders took off on the same grid. It was the first time
six riders have had the same starting time at the Pike’s Peak Hill Climb.”
Rider Chris Denison took an early lead. “He was so excited that he held up his
arm to wave,” said Livingston. “Rider Paul Thede took advantage of that brief
moment, and swooped in front of Chris. Alexander Smith was right behind them and
he and Chris chased Paul.” Only a few seconds separated the first through fourth
riders.
At 14,100 feet and after 156 turns, rider Paul Thede crossed the finish line
with a time of 15:19.791. Five seconds later, he was followed by Alexander
Smith. Chris Denison was third.
FL Racing owner Rod Falkner presented the Silver Honda Cup to champion Paul
Thede at the FL Racing pits. The FL Team also attended the Pike’s Peak award
ceremony at the starting line and collected trophies for the Exhibition class in
first, second and third place.
Next up for FL is the Bonneville Salt Flats. “This year we will be supporting
one returning motorcycle and one brand new one,” said Livingston. “The returning
race bike is the current record holder for the 1650cc Production/Production
class. In 2006, Paul Thede set a new record of 191.802 mph on the 2006 Kawasaki
ZX-14.”
Our goal this year is to increase the speed on that motorcycle and inking that
number into the record books. “In the hot, dry and salty conditions at
Bonneville, K&N Filters are a huge part of making the motorcycles run well,”
said Livingston. “We rely on K&N oil and air filters to work on motorcycles that
run over 200 mph.”
