2007 Speedway World Championship is a Brand New Game

As the Speedway World Championship racers prepare for a brand new agenda, they
know 2007 will be one of the toughest battles on record. With an increase this
year to 11 rounds plus a new points system, it will be the hardest fought World
Championship since the introduction of the Grand Prix series in 1995.

Jason Crump is taking the changes in stride and ready for the Grand Prix
to begin on April 28th.

“In the past, we raced 9 or 10 rounds,” said the double World Champion. “The International Motorcycle Federation has implemented a new points scoring system to try and keep the points gap closer between the riders. With the new points structure every race will count towards your points tally. Last year I won the World Championship by the biggest margin simply because I won the races that counted.”
Round one takes place at Lonigo, Italy and the stadium is expected to be at capacity. Crump finished in second place at Lonigo in 2005 and first in 2006. It is one of his favorite tracks. “My strategy must change,” said Crump. “I have to win every race. In the past, finishing second was okay in some races because I made it to the next level. The final race was the one that counted the most and that is where I performed better than all the others.”
Crump uses K&N Engineering products. “As usual, I will be using K&N Filters on all my bikes,” he said. “I have 15 bikes in my stable for the British, Polish and Swedish league racing and World Championship Grand Prix. K&N has been a long time supporter. Speedway is dirt track racing so having the right filter is paramount. K&N Air Filters provide constant airflow for maximum engine performance. Crump said he is physically and mentally prepared for the action. “I never underestimate the opposition and I don’t expect the world championship to be won with two rounds to go like last year,” he said. “I see the series going all the way down to the wire.”
