Jeff Arend has been the driver of the blue Checker, Schuck’s Kragen Funny Car
for only two races and now he will shift cars for a special edition body at the
AC Delco Gatornationals.

Arend will pilot a bold black and orange Monte Carlo in Florida, sporting the
image and logo of major associate sponsor K&N Filters.

“It’s a huge honor for me to be a part of the Worsham Team,” said Arend. “To
also have the chance to drive the K&N Filters car, well that’s just above and
beyond what you could hope for. Our sport lives and breathes on the support of
the fans and the sponsors, so having the opportunity to give K&N a chance to
shine on one of the biggest stages of the year is awesome, and doing it in
Gainesville is almost perfect.”
New career highlights may be on the horizon for the 12-year-veteran. He
demolished his all-time best numbers in terms of estimated time and speed at
Pomona, and goes into Gainesville holding onto 7th place on the POWERade points
sheet. Arend has already earned round wins against Jack Beckman and Ron Capps,
with the Capps win (at Pomona).
“There’s no getting around the fact that we had a lot of eyes on us at Pomona
and Phoenix,” said Arend. “The pressure was about as intense as I’ve ever felt.
To me, and all the guys on the team it’s about showing what we’re fully capable
of delivering all year. Going into the semi-final in Pomona was a great
accomplishment, but you haven’t seen the best of this team yet.”
Putting the K&N car in the winner’s circle is in the realm of possibility,
according to Team Manger Bob Wilber. “Every lap is going to be difficult, all
season long,” he said. “There is every reason to believe Jeff will give K&N and
our complete family of sponsors a big weekend. On one of his favorite tracks, in
the best car he has ever driven, Jeff is already visualizing the moment he pops
out of his car, fists raised in celebration after the final round on Sunday.
Then, on national television, he’d have the chance to mention his two favorite
letters, K&N.”

Jacob Pearlman took 2nd place over the weekend at Moran Raceway in Beaumont,
California. The teen from Carlsbad raced with the Tri-C Karters, competing in
the HPV-2 class. Tri-C is one of the largest kart clubs in the nation and has
some very competitive racers.
Jacob Pearlman takes 2nd at Moran Raceway
“JP (Jacob Pearlman) was quick through most of the day,” said his father Richard
Pearlman. “He had to overcome some surprising mechanical challenges to reach the
checkered flag. The day started with a 5 minute practice session that ended a
bit early after JP was contacted by another kart and spun in the final section
of the course.”
After a quick check, JP’s No. 25 DPK Birel was in working condition minus a
broken rear bumper. In the first qualifying lap JP roared down the 860 foot
downhill front straight and took the white flag, but was caught off-guard when
his steering wheel and column pulled out of the chassis. Speeds at the end of
Moran’s front straight can approach 75 mph and the front section of the track
abruptly transitions into a hard 90 degree high speed right hand turn.
“It’s difficult to master,” said Pearlman. “And for Jacob, it was incredibly
challenging with his steering assembly coming off his go-kart. JP kept his mind
on racing and pushed down on the steering wheel as he swung his kart into turn
one. He was barely able to get his kart turned as the kart briefly, but
completely left the racing surface. JP was able to keep his ride under control
before he transitioned back onto the track.”
JP qualified third in the 23 kart field and started on the outside of the front
row. At the drop of the green flag for the heat race, JP found himself running
in fourth place coming out of Turn One. He moved up to third with a pass in the
final turn of the first lap. JP stayed in the line as part of a 4 kart breakaway
group until the final lap of the heat. He was able to make another pass and
moved into second place. The top 4 karts in the heat race were separated by less
than a half of a second as they crossed the finish line.
In the main, JP stayed in line behind the leader as the gap to the rest of the
field continued to widen. “His strategy to attempt a last lap pass for the lead
was foiled when he and the other lead kart caught lapped traffic on the final
circuit of the race,” said Pearlman. “JP’s shot at victory was gone.”
“Considering the challenges we faced it was still a great race day,” said Jacob
Pearlman. “I was shocked when the steering wheel and column came up into my
hands. It is a strong start to the season for me and my kart and motor were
really working well.”
Jacob and Richard Pearlman’s use K&N Engineering products. “We had great
horsepower,” said Richard Pearlman. “The K&N Karting Airbox and Filter are an
essential part of our race motor package. Jacob just missed clocking the fast
lap for the race by .06 seconds.”
JP’s next race is at California Speedway with the Los Angeles Kart Club.

K&N Engineering will continue to sponsor the No. 6 Ford F-150 and Roush Fenway
Racing driver Travis Kvapil for an additional three races. Kvapil will drive the
K&N Filters Ford at Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend. Additional races
include Martinsville Speedway on March 31 and Kansas Speedway on April 28.
Travis Kvapil
“K&N is shifting priorities around to make things happen for Roush Fenway Racing
and Travis Kvapil,” said Charles Maier, Sports Marketing Director of K&N
Engineering. “We see this opportunity to continue our sponsorship for another
three races as a fantastic thing for K&N and Roush Fenway. They need a great
sponsor and we want to build a great relationship with a top team in the world
of NASCAR.”
K&N sponsored the No. 6 at
Daytona International
Speedway in February. Kvapil led most of the laps on route to a third place
finish on February 16. The following week K&N also sponsored Kvapil at California Speedway.
“We’re really happy that K&N has come on board with us for the next three
races,” Kvapil said. “We nearly won Daytona, and we’d like to think we can make
it up to them by pulling off a win in one of the next three races. Atlanta is a
really fun racetrack. Next to Daytona, it’s one of the most fun racetracks we go
to. You can run anywhere, up to the wall or down around the bottom of the track.
It really makes for an exciting race.”
Kvapil currently is seventh in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points, 65 points
behind leader Jack Sprague.

Aprilia's new V-Twin motorcycles, the RXV (Enduro) and the SXV (Supermoto) have
entered the off-road market with a bang. The 450 and 550 share a chassis, wheels
and brakes. Both are considered powerful enough for racing.
Air Filter for Aprilia RXV 450, 550 and SXV 450 and 550
K&N Engineering has developed a replacement Air Filter (AL-4506)
for the 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 Aprilia 450 and 550.
The K&N Replacement Air Filter is custom designed to fit into the air box lid.
"There is a baffle in the OE air box," said K&N Powersports Application
Coordinator Lisa Watson. "The filter comes with special installation instructions to ensure a proper seal is made with the baffle in place."
The grooves on the outside perimeter of this K&N Air Filter allow
clearance for the stock screws. This makes tightening the lid to the
air box base easy.
K&N Air Filters are washable and reusable and are ideal for extended use in dirty off-road conditions. AL-4506 offers your motorcycle the air it needs for optimum horsepower.
