THROTTLE CONTROL MODULE


Is your car suffering from a lethargic throttle response? One of the newest members of the K&N® tuning line, the Throttle Control Module is designed to improve throttle response and acceleration, and improve pedal sensitivity without modifying factory ECU settings. The system processes input data from the gas pedal, and modifies the signal before sending it to the ECU for an adjustable level of sensitivity—creating an increase in throttle responsiveness that will make your car feel like a whole new machine.

BOOST CONTROL MODULE


If you’ve ever towed a trailer up a steep grade, you know how important it is to have horsepower and boost at your fingertips. K&N’s new Boost Control Module works within factory parameters to increase boost—improving throttle response, and offering a power increase of up to 47 horsepower and 59 lb./ft. of torque*. The system can typically be installed in less than 30 minutes (no software required), and is adjustable on-the-go—helping you fine-tune your boost level to your preferences and needs. When you need more power, simply adjust the dial to give your acceleration a bit of extra muscle. The kit includes the module, wiring harness, adjustable knob, hardware, and detailed instructions—and is compatible with other performance upgrades, including exhausts, intake systems, larger turbos, and more.

ELECTRONIC CARBURETOR INJECTION


The K&N® Electronic Carburetor Injection System is a self-tuning bolt-on system which adds a supplemental fuel source in order to optimize engine performance. Users have the option to set detailed parameters, including their desired air-to-fuel ratio, injector pulse width, shot volume, progressive injector firing, and minimum/maximum RPM range.

NO MORE COLD STARTS


The brain of the ECI system is the ECU, which vigilantly monitors the input from the oxygen sensor to ensure an optimal air-to-fuel ratio is maintained. If the system detects an AFR higher than the user-defined limit, the injector will fire. Unlike a typical electronic fuel injection system, the ECI works cooperatively with your existing carburetor, supporting the fuel flow rates that high-horsepower vehicles require to operate efficiently. If your engine is performing lean, K&N’s ECI system will help make up for the fuel deficit.

The Boost Control Module instructs the vehicle’s ECU to increase the amount of pressure in the manifold to a higher level before releasing it through the wastegate, which keeps additional boost available for increased horsepower.

Can I adjust my Boost Control Module while the engine is running?

The Boost Control Module provides an estimated power increase of up to 46 horsepower and 59 lb./ft. of torque. Estimated horsepower and torque gains based on specific or similar vehicle dynamometer tests. Results will vary.

Why purchase the K&N® ECI instead of an EFI?

The K&N® ECI is designed to operate as a supplemental fuel system to reduce inefficiencies in a mechanical carburetor, and provide some electronic advantages. It is designed to reduce some of the limitations of carbureted engines without the effort and cost of installing an entire EFI system.

Is ECI the same thing as a throttle body injection?

No. The K&N® ECI is designed to be used as a supplemental fuel source in conjunction with your existing carburetor and hardware.

What components come in the ECI kit?

The kit includes a one-inch anodized aluminum spacer plate with attached fuel injector rail, a weld-in oxygen sensor bung, mounting hardware, an injection-molded weatherproof ECU, a wide-band oxygen sensor, and a wiring harness. The Dominator version comes with an additional fuel injector block on the opposite side of the spacer plate.

What carburetors is the ECI compatible with?

What carburetors is the ECI compatible with?

Does the K&N® ECI have to be used with new carburetors only?

No, the ECI system can be used with both old and new carburetors.

Do you have to weld the bung to the exhaust in order to mount the oxygen sensor?

Yes. The bung comes pre-packaged in the kit, and has to be welded into the exhaust. Clamp-on solutions are in development, and may eventually be offered as an accessory or as part of an updated kit.

What is the minimum and maximum fuel pressure?

The ECI has been tested as low as 6 psi, and as high as 25 psi.

Does the ECI require an electric fuel pump?

No. You can tie off from your mechanical fuel pump if needed.

What about hood clearance?

The spacer height is designed to be as minimal as possible, and adds only one inch of height. If you do have hood clearance issues and you’re using a K&N® air filter, we do offer drop bases which can help effectively utilize space.

Will this work for both alcohol and methanol applications?

Yes. Depending on your application, you may have to make some adjustments to your injector size. The ECI interface allows you to select the fuel that you’re running through a drop-down menu, and provides pre-set AFR options that you can adjust if needed.

What air/fuel ratio does the system shoot for?

The system is already pre-programmed with set points for the AFR depending on the type of fuel you’re running—gas, methanol, or ethanol—and you can customize your own AFR if you wish.

Can the ECI be used for a dry shot of nitrous?

Absolutely—we think this is going to be a popular application for the ECI, though you may have to make some adjustments to your injector capacity.

Will the ECI only help if the carburetor is running too lean?

Yes. The ECI is designed to only help when the engine is lean. You will set the parameters of the AFR, and any time that the air/fuel ratio goes above that reading, the ECI then injects fuel. If the AFR is constantly below that reading, the injector will not fire.
